Hi Friends, Today I want to share my personal review of SAMSUNG’s latest netbook, SAMSUNG N310. It is the world’s lightest netbook with 10.1″ LCD Screen. It weighs only 1.23 kg with a powerful 4 Cell Battery. Its design is really innovative and packed with latest technology for maximum mobility and productivity. It also incorporates a range of features, like an ergonomic styled keyboard, a webcam, etc.

So if you need to stay in touch and want to make a good impression also,  then the SAMSUNG N310 makes complete sense.

I find the first impression of SAMSUNG N310 to be impressive. This is due to its attractive design. Even technically also it seemed to be a good netbook. Its most fascinating feature is the pebble styled keyboard. And the rugged plastic used in making the body adds up to the protection while the rounded corners give it a unique look. It is very compact in size; in comparison with other SAMSUNG’s Netbook. The HDD of 160GB allows to store more than we expect from a netbook. Its LCD gives a very crystal clear view.

Finally after adding up everything I feel that it’s really a good netbook. Main attraction is the design only. So if you are conscious about the looks of your laptop then this is the best netbook you can find in the market. I’ve recommended this to two of my friends also and they are very satisfied with its performance.

What is SRS?
Software Requirements Specification(SRS) is basically an organization’s understanding (in writing) of a customer or potential client’s system requirements and dependencies at a particular point of time (usually) prior to any actual design or development work. It’s a two-way insurance policy that assures that both the client and the organization understand each other’s requirements from every perspective at a given point of time.

Benefits of a Good SRS

• Establish the basis for agreement between the customers and the suppliers on what the software product is to do.
• Reduce the development effort.
• Provide a basis for estimating costs and schedules.
• Provide a baseline for validation and verification.
• Serve as a basis for enhancement.

What should the SRS address to?

1. Functionality: What is the software supposed to do?
2. External Interfaces: How does the software interact with people, the system’s hardware, other hardware, and other software?
3. Performance: What is the speed, availability, response time, recovery time of various software functions, etc.?
4. Attributes: What are the portability, correctness, maintainability, security, etc. considerations?
5. Design constraints imposed on an implementation. Are there any required standards in effect, implementation language, policies for database integrity, resource limits, operating environment(s) etc.?

What are the characteristics of a good SRS?

A SRS should be:

a) Correct

b) Unambiguous

c) Complete

d) Consistent

e) Ranked for importance and/or stability

f) Verifiable

g) Modifiable

h) Traceable

Difference between System Specification and Software Specification:

Very often we find that companies don’t understand the difference between System Specification and Software Specification. Important issues are not defined up front and Mechanical, Electronic and Software designers do not really know what their requirements are.

The following is a high level list of requirements that should be addressed in a System Specification:

• Define the functions of the system
• Define the Hardware/Software Functional Partitioning
• Define the Performance Specification
• Define the Hardware/Software Performance Partitioning
• Define Safety Requirements
• Define the User Interface (A good user’s manual is often an overlooked part of the System specification. Many of our customers haven’t even considered that this is the right time to write the user’s manual)
• Provide Installation Drawings/Instructions
• Provide Interface Control Drawings (ICD’s, External I/O)

Hi Folks,

Few weeks later I faced a great trouble while installing PEAR on WAMP Server.

The Problem:

The PEAR path is wrongly set to C:\php5\pear automatically than its original path.

The Solution:

1. Edit every php.ini file, change INCLUDE_PATH to your path where WAMP Server is installed(e.g. C:\WAMP\bin\php\php5\includes).
2. Now run go-pear.bat, and follow all the instructions. If everything is fine then its OK. You can check it by running http://localhost/phpinfo(). Else if go to Step 3.
   
3. Right Click My Computer->Advanced Tab->Environment Variables->Add New User Variable->PHP_PEAR_INCLUDE_PATH->Add new value->The path where PEAR is installed(e.g. C:\WAMP\bin\php\php5\PEAR).
4. Do post your results soon.
